Everyone at the wedding had such a good time.  The dance floor was constantly packed.  I don’t think Craig ever stopped smiling.  And so many happy tears during the ceremony.  But… one of the best moments (just see the kids faces in that last image) was when an Uncle got up in front of everyone with a microphone and started belting out Elvis for the cute little flower girl and ring bearer.  Uncle had promised them both that he would get up and sing if they both did good going down the aisle.  He kept his promise and the kids thought it was the best thing ever.

Michelle’s Favorite : Ceremony shot, 10th one down (taken by Michelle).  Craig + Erin had so many amazing portraits, but I had to go with this real moment.  It’s such a happy moment.  Everyone in the frame, the officiant, the sister, and of course Craig and Erin, all have these huge smiles on their faces.  I love it.

Zach’s Favorite : Gazebo portrait, 6th one down (taken by Zach).  The composition illustrates the private moment between the bride and groom.  Craig + Erin just look super comfortable and happily in love.

Jessica is a professional photographer, and a fabulous one too.  Here’s a link to her stuff.  So, it was a bit nerve racking.  But, I can’t even tell you how easy they made our job.  She let go and let us do what we do best.  She even told us right at the beginning of the session that she had to tell herself that she hired us for a reason, she likes our stuff, just let go and give us creative freedom.  Oh… and did I mention that Roger is a creative one too!  He creates amazing handmade paper goodness.  Check out his stuff here.  And call him up if you are needing wedding invites or business cards.

Michelle’s Favorite : Second image from the top (taken by Zach). I don’t know why, I just love this picture.  It’s the perfect black and white image, it seems so classic to me.  I also love the vertical image of them in front of their house.  It tells so much in just one photo. The story of a young couple in love in front of their first house.  LOVE.

Zach’s Favorite : The final image (taken by Zach).  They are both looking away from each other but look content and happy being where they are.  I think this is also another great storytelling image.  I imagine this is how they actually spend their time sitting on the front porch with their doggies.

Princess + Oscar wanted something that spoke Colorado, since they just moved here in August and are actually headed back to California in August.  They loved the feel and look of Red Rocks, so last Saturday we met up with them for their engagement session.  And these two were complete naturals, I can’t even stress that enough.  They both mentioned that they were basically terrified of getting their photos taken and they were being haunted all week by the thought of it.  But, I seriously wouldn’t have known.  From the very first image, they were right at ease with each other, which makes for amazingness in the camera.  YAY.  Can’t wait to meet up with the two of you again, let the countdown begin!

Can you believe it?!??

Corinne & Mike are huge foodies. They love to cook together. Mike is a chef, Corinne is a nutritionist. So, of course, a food theme was a must. A romantic and playful retro brunch. We incorporated the amazing banner that showcases their wedding colors, Mike made some yummy pancakes for them to snack on, fresh fruit, and a variety of their favorite cook books. We also got some fun images of them at their home and some great night shots in Larimer Square in Denver. We love this couple and can not wait till August for their amazing Steamboat wedding!  Oh… and to be able to show the amazing amazing amazing love story video of theirs.

]]> http://www.revertphoto.com/2012/04/retro-brunch-enagement-corinne-mike/feed/ 0 Robin + Justin http://www.revertphoto.com/2012/04/denver-wedding-photographer-robin-justin-blog/ http://www.revertphoto.com/2012/04/denver-wedding-photographer-robin-justin-blog/#comments Tue, 10 Apr 2012 18:15:10 +0000 michelle http://www.revertphoto.com/?p=6077 Continue reading →]]> The first time I met with Robin I knew this wedding was going to be beautiful.  It was clear she wanted a very photojournalistic approach to capturing her day.  So many people were traveling to the wedding, including her 90 year old grandparents from Israel.  The day was filled with so much love and energy.  You couldn’t help but have a great time.  The celebration began early with all the women; cousins, aunts, and friends at the salon, and lasted all the way through the night with everyone on the dance floor.  Zach and I had never shot or attended a traditional Israeli wedding before.  There were a few of the Jewish traditions that we were used to; the chuppah, the seven circles, the breaking of the glass, and the horah.  But, what we were not expecting, which Robin mentioned is traditional in Israel was when the ceremony began.  Robin, Justin and her parents walked around the room grabbing all of the guests to follow them up to the ceremony stage.  There was so much energy in the room.  There are just no words that can describe the intenseness of this moment.  It was amazing.  For the ceremony everyone was standing crowded around the stage.  Justin’s brother officiated the wedding and Robin’s grandfather and Justin’s dad also spoke.  It was extremely moving when Robin’s grandfather was giving the blessing in Hebrew.  Immediately following the ceremony everyone swarmed the stage to hug the now Mr. & Mrs.

I really wish I was a better writer to put into words the energy and love that was felt at this huge celebration of Robin and Justin.  I guess, I’ll have to let the photos tell the story.  There were just so many amazing storytelling images that it was hard to narrow it down to the top images that represented their day.  So… we cheated a little.  And after you check out these 20, be sure to click over and see just a few more!

I started snowboarding at a young age, and skiing at younger age so when the snow starts falling in the mountains every winter, I can almost feel them pull me closer to them. Something is so perfect about sliding down a steep slope, ducking through trees and charging the terrain of a mountain, knowing that the only thing depending on me is me, and the board below my feet.  I love being blasted in the face by snow, cold temperatures and blowing snow doesn’t really bother me and it is rare that you will hear me complain about the snow conditions.  I do this year after year, and run after run and I just never seem to get sick of it.  I watch endless amounts of video’s on youtube, go to Warren Miller ski films, look through magazines and continually dream at night about the perfect day… all year long.  There really is no way to describe the way that mountains pull me closer, and it’s so hard to explain why I never get sick of it.  The only thing I know is that ever since I was very young I can remember thinking… this is where my heart lives.

A few weeks ago I came home from a trip of a lifetime.  Something that I have dreamed of doing almost my entire life, and something that I had always thought would never really happen. With the two guys who share this passion with me most, my Dad and my Brother, we headed up to Revelstoke, BC for 5 days of skiing in the Selkirks and Monashee mountains.  One of the coolest parts about this trip was not only had I heard that these mountain ranges get amazing amounts of snow each year, but we would be accessing all of the terrain by helicopter. :)  This is the type of stuff that I had always thought was reserved for movies and professionals.  After quite a few months of growing my beard, preparing myself mentally, buying all the necessary gear to make sure everything was perfect, dreaming about leaving that gear behind, buying more gear, and talking about it endlessly/ relentlessly… the helicopter finally landed in front of us ready take us on our first drop.  I’ll never forget when the heli door opened on top of the mountain, us stepping out into waist deep powder, snow blowing, people huddled… and then the helicopter lifted off, leaving us in silence with some of the most amazing mountain views I had ever seen.

Everyone asks how the snow was.  It was deep and frankly incredible, the helicopter was cool and the views were amazing.  I really think I made some of the best turns of my life out there.  But what I really learned on this trip is that what I really love about snowboarding is that I get to do with people that I really care about.  It doesn’t really matter if I am in the BC interior or at small local mountain, I’ve been able to share this passion with my family and some really great friends.  It has built my relationships with my family stronger and has made new friendships into long lasting ones. That is what makes my heart happy and will always be the reason I do it.  Year after year.  Run after run.

But by the end of the night it was like we were wishing our good friends off on their honeymoon. I just love when that happens. March in Colorado can bring snow, rain, wind, sun… pretty much anything can happen. Beth and Kyle saw all four seasons on their wedding day. It was windy and cold and then moments later sunny and beautiful. And by the end of the night they were dancing in the snow.

The best part about our jobs is to be able to tell a story within an image. My favorite images from Beth and Kyle do just that.

Favorite Moment : Beth (and Kyle) braved the cold to capture the beautiful surroundings. This moment was one of those in-between moments when Kyle was protecting his beautiful bride from the wind. {11th from the top – photo by Michelle}

Favorite moment 2 : Beth and Kyle spontaneously decided to dance in the snow with the flower girls at the end of the night. And while Zach may not have had that perfect lens and perfect lighting scenario at that exact moment. He was able to create this amazing image that tells this perfect story. {2nd to last – photo by Zach}
