For Oliver’s first birthday party we didn’t do anything big, just a small family ice cream party. But, that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to go all out! I spent many late nights sewing, baking and decorating. I don’t own a sewing machine (one thing I really want to get this year!)….I don’t know how to sew….I have never sewed anything in my life. So, naturally, I decide that I should hand sew little robot finger puppets for the party. But, I do have to admit, I loved them. With Zach’s help, and thanks to his amazing cutting and robot design skills, they turned out amazing! Zach also made the little robot signs for the banana chocolate cupcakes and the Happy Ollie Day signs for the Izze’s. The main inspiration for the entire robot theme…the cake pops. The robot cake pops were inspired by Bakerella and only made possible because of Intricate Icing‘s cake pop class! They were loved by everyone! YUMMY!!!

Michelle, you and Zach’s creative talents are amazing. The use of felt in the banner, the finger puppets and the wraps adds such a wonderful dimension to the party. And even more amazing when I read you’ve never sewn before!! So unique compared to the other robot parties I’ve seen on the internet.
The same robot cake pops are what has inspired my soon to be 7 yr old to have a robot party too.

This party is amazing! I’m planning a similar theme for my son’s first birthday. Do you mind sharing where you bought the wind-up robot toys? Truly amazing work!

Michelle – you went absolutely nuts with the fabric! The pictures look great.
